KAREN CRONER
MIXED MEDIA SCULPTURE
BASED IN PORTLAND, OREGON
My recent sculptures are portraits in mixed media. Each piece begins with a wire armature, then some papier-mâché. I work with paper clay, fabric, and plaster to create texture and features. I use both acrylic and casein paints.
There is always a tension between these humble ingredients and the character and complexity of the finished sculpture.
EXHIBITIONS
October 14-16, 2022, I will exhibit at the Sitka Art Invitational here in Portland.
I am currently working on commissioned pieces.
